The Glass Menagerie
Jessica Lange return to the West End for a limited period only to star in the new production of Tennessee Williams' masterpiece; The Glass Menagerie.
Set in St. Louis, Missouri the play deals with the troubled relationship of a socially withdrawn family. Told by Tom (the son) who blurs a mixture of real events and slightly inaccurate memories we follow the strained relationships of the 3 characters. Amanda (the mother) lives only part in the real world and is fixated on her idealized version of her Southern childhood. Laura (the daughter) is physically disabled by a limp and is painfully shy as a result, preferring the company of her collection of glass animals. Laura is unable to work and so her mother decides that the best thing for her is to find a suitable companion. Tom is entrusted with the job of locating a partner, though the plan is surely bound to fail?
